Ruthless monsters from another realm are always at the forefront of Obake’s mind. Yet, he can't reconcile whether he truly believes they exist. Considering the vague stories told by his grandparents, it's no wonder he can't shake the feeling he's being lied to. How did his family really lose all their wealth? How did the fire that decimated his home city really start? How did his parents really die?

 

When not obsessing over such matters, Obake is focused on his studies at the academy and his training as a ninja. Even then, the allure of the unknown claws away at him. His only respite is a gorgeous young woman. Unfortunately, because of her status as a samurai, an opposing faction of warriors, Obake is forbidden to associate with her.

 

Samurai and ninja, the realm's most prominent populations, separated long ago. A concerted effort to establish peace, something that could come crashing at any moment. Despite it all, Obake is determined to graduate and become a full-fledged bounty hunter. With such monumental goals at hand, why worry about anything else? Besides, if those ruthless monsters are real, it's not like they'd ever show up... right?
